The UI Bands Library maintains the world's largest repository of printed band music for performance by the University Bands.

The Library is responsible for archiving, preserving, indexing, and expanding the UI Bands collection of music, band music materials, and fine wind band recordings for use by the University Bands Department and its associated faculty and students.

The UI Bands Library is also responsible for maintaining an exceptional rehearsal environment for the concert bands. Among other tasks, UI Bands Library staff set up and strike necessary chairs, stands, and individual music folders for all rehearsals and sectionals, and set up and strike stages for UI Bands events. In addition, all audition materials are prepared by the Library staff, who update the audition excerpts every semester.

All management, preparation and reservation of space in the Harding Band Building is handled through the UI Bands Librarian, Lucinda Lawrence.

Library Policies
The UI Bands Library is not a lending library. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to offer materials for personal check-out or loan. Library materials are strictly for use by the University Bands, and are handled only by the conductors and library staff. On rare occasion, by approval of the Director of Bands, scores, recordings, and other materials are made available to UI School of Music students and faculty for in-building research and associated scholarly objectives.
